ANIMAL FARM
Clarification
Dear comrades, I know that you are understandably shaken from the acts of treachery that you bore witness to. Those poor Animals were led astray by the traitor, Snowball, but their debauchery must not go unpunished comrades- no that would be even more horrific. The punishments that Napoleon and his loyal dogs meted out were harsh necessities, my comrades, and that is the truth. I noticed that some of you were taken aback at the killing of other animals, and turned to the Commandments for guidance. You would do well to read those Commandments again comrades, especially the Sixth one. It appears that some of you had forgotten the last two words of it: without cause. That is, comrades, other animals may be killed, so long as there is an obvious and just reason behind it, which in this case there no doubt was. Do not lose heart comrades, this act of justice simply means that all traitors, both amongst us and outside of Animals Farm have been dealt with. Only good times lie ahead of us. We are also no longer allowing the singing of “The Beasts of England” as this tune was a song of the Rebellion; we have no further need of it, and thus we shall not sing it anymore. Our most esteemed poet has come up with other songs for you: Animal Farm, Animal Farm, Never through me shalt thou come to harm, and the great "Comrade Napoleon."
