The Loss of a True Comrade

 

Dear comrades, I shall open with the good news. Animal Farm is now officially a Republic, and our President is of course Comrade, nay, President Napoleon. However, now I must move on to the bad news. Our most loyal comrade, a great friend and worker, has sadly perished. Boxer, the second greatest amongst us (we must not forget Comrade Napoleon), sadly died today after he had collapsed while working to rebuild our windmill. Comrade Napoleon spared no expense in his medical treatment, but alas, he could not be saved. We all grieve and mourn for that horse who was worth three of his kind. I would also like to dispel a horrendous rumor. Comrade Boxer was not carried off to the knacker’s; that is absurd and a grave insult to our President Napoleon.  I do not wish to dishearten our readers, and so I will end by stating that the quality of life in Animal Farm has increased by 384%. Our economic development has been tremendous, and it shall continue to grow…
